Home Business: Do You Make The Cut?

Are you cut out to be in the “biz”?  In a cut throat world who has the skills, the ambition, the drive to make it in a home business atmosphere?  The answer- not as simple as you may think. 

The statistics show that 95% of home businesses fail.  If those are the statistics it seems pretty cut and dry.  Not many are going to succeed.  If this is the case why is there so much information bombarding the internet about home business?  Why are there so many options available to people who are interested in home businesses if those people will ultimately fail?  Well, let’s start with the failures.  The number of people out there who are failing in this business are by and large the people who think that they are going to go online somewhere, give out their address and sit back and start watching the money roll in.  Don’t laugh- these people are real, and prevalent.  (OK, let’s snicker a little!)   These kind of people make up more than half of the failed home businesses.  And the others, you ask?  Some fall to scams, but most are taken with the idea that they will make quick money.  They work for a few days- heck, maybe even a few weeks, and when they don’t see immediate results, they give up.  Many of the sites you are seeing are leftovers, dying businesses that people have given up on.  They have given up their dream and gone back to their 9 to 5 grind.

The reality of this job, like any other, is that you get what you put into it.  If you are the type of person who can put in some hours everyday and is willing to work to see your business get on its feet then you are in the 5%.  Will you be able to retire in the first month of  getting your business started. No.  There it is, the cold hard truth.  Will you succeed if you are determined; if you are willing to put in the time and effort it takes to be successful?  Yes.  The 5% who are making it in this world of home businesses, the 5% who stay at home in their pajamas are working in their pajamas.  They don’t just watch TV all day.  Sure, maybe they don’t work 9 hour days like you, but they do work. 

So, how do these successful people in their pajamas get to this point in their lives?  Did they just wake up one day decide not to go to work? Yes and no! They enjoy the comfort of their homes and the success of their businesses because they have a different mindset.  They woke up one day, read a book about marketing or surfed the web and found an article like this and had their “aha moment.”  What is the “aha moment” you ask?  It’s the moment when you realize that these people are not better than you.  They do not work harder at what they do than you.  They do not deserve the rewards they get more than you do.  The moment when you realize that you have the determination and drive to do what everyone wants and few accomplish.  That is the “aha moment”, the turning point when you decide that you will be the next big success, and if it’s real- you will be.
